Michael and I went to the Windsor Fair this past Sunday. My first time going there. I loved it. Had all the small town activities. I was bummed they weren’t having the woodsmen’s day that day. A girl can’t have everything I guess. We were able to see lots of animals. Many goats, as pictured above, cows, chickens and horses. Again… I loved it.. love shooting animals.. with my camera of course. I also got to get my fried dough fix for the year.. well.. maybe I could use one more piece.. with all that butter, cinnamon and sugar and the best part.. the powdered sugar on top if it all.. mmm.. may have to find another fair..

At the beginning of the summer I asked Hayley what she wanted to do before she leaves for college.. a sort of bucket list if you will. One of the things she asked was to see her great grandfather, my maternal grandfather. She has talked to him on many occasions but has not seen him in person as of yet.. for various reasons. So last week we went down to visit him. We had a great time hearing stories from my grandfather as well as my mother and Aunt the shenanigans of having 6 children, all girls,  growing up in the very house we were now sitting in. He also kept remarking on how lucky he was and ultimately we all were to have 4 generations sitting there together last Thursday.

My grandfather was the Captain of the U.S.A.F. from 1942-1946.  He navigated the lead plan filled with paratroopers on D-Day into Normandy, as well as being the lead plane for Holland, Bastogne and Rhineland. It’s not something he talks about often but I’m glad he said something this time. He was and still is at 89 a remarkable man. I’m very proud to call him “Pa”.

It was an afternoon filled with alot of laughing and remembering. I’m glad to have added another memory to the list of memories for us four, myself, my daughter, my mother and her father.

Beansy and I have this routine that he came up with. Each morning I get up, let the dogs out, put food in their bowls, go to the bathroom, pour the premade coffee (I finally realized it is much nicer to have scheduled the brew for when I wake up), bring the dogs back in. Give them a treat, now here is where it gets interesting.. well maybe not.. but.. I give a treat to Rufus and then I put a treat in Beansy’s Kong. When he comes in from going out he goes to find his Kong and brings it in the kitchen to me. Once he gets his filled Kong he runs like a bat out of hell onto my bed and very happily works to get the treat out. He then lounges on my bed as above and watches me as I do my morning online routines. This is the view of him (I zoomed so you wouldn’t have to see the living room) when I turn my head left and he is staring at me, every single morning we do this.. talk about routines 🙂
